Dr Hernandez’s was hosted by the Water Systems Management Lab at UC Merced from May 6th to 23rd  2024 as part of the Academic exchange of UC Alianza MX project. During his stay, Dr Hernandez worked primarily with Dr Medellin and Dr Tom Harmon and engaged in various activities that fostered knowledge exchange and potential collaborations between UNAM and UC Merced. He delivered a captivating seminar titled “Exploration and Sustainable Management of Aquifers in Mexico,” which provided insights into common water management issues between Mexico and California, sparking meaningful discussions among faculty, researchers, and students. Additionally, he participated in field visits to visualize water management in the San Joaquín River Basin, including sites implementing soil and water retention, natural recharge, and induced aquifer recharge methods. Dr Hernandez’s visit was an enriching experience for the UC Merced academic community, fostering valuable discussions and insights in the field of Comprehensive Water Management and Managed Groundwater Recharge, and offering a unique opportunity for knowledge exchange and potential collaboration in areas of mutual interest between UNAM and UC Merced.
