Kurt Schwabe

Kurt Schwabe is an adjunct fellow at the PPIC Water Policy Center and professor of environmental economics and policy at the University of California, Riverside. His university research has focused on economic issues associated with water use, agricultural production, urban water conservation, ecosystem services, and environmental regulation. His papers have appeared in a wide range of peer-reviewed publications, including Nature SustainabilityProceedings of the National Academy of SciencesJournal of Risk and UncertaintyAmerican Journal of Agricultural EconomicsResource and Energy EconomicsLand Economics, and Economic Letters. He is the recipient of the 1996 Kenneth R. Keller Award for Excellence in Doctoral Research and the 2007–08 Flagship Fellowship at the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organization in Australia. He holds a PhD in economics from North Carolina State University, an MA in economics from Duke University, and double majored in Mathematics and Economics at Macalester College.
