Luis Ángel Acosta Chávez

Luis Ángel Acosta Chávez is an undergraduate student in Civil Engineering at the Universidad Michoacana de San Nicolás de Hidalgo in Michoacán, Mexico, who aspires to receive his bachelor’s degree by the summer of 2025. He was selected to participate in the Summer Undergraduate Research Institute (SURI) Program at UC Merced, in the Water Systems Management Lab, during the summer of 2024. His current work focuses on the analysis of Irrigation District 075, located in Sinaloa, Mexico. In this analysis, he examines the existing infrastructure, conducts a study of the characteristics, and digitizes the information with the help of the QGIS geographic information system, to subsequently propose the placement of meters at points deemed convenient, based on the analysis of the distribution and delivery of water to users within the district.
